Description

My application for a wonderful group I saw.
I never thought that I'd ever write so much in my life on one post! //sobs In truth I've had the picture done for a good week and a half now, but it's the description that's taken me so long to write....
Anyways, feel free to skip over any blurbs; I won't be hurt, I swear. ;A;

---:iconoctrainers-united:---
Name: Gabriel Chamberlain
Nickname(s): Gabe
Age: 17 years
Birthday: May 29th (Gemini)
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0" (1.83 m)
Weight: 150 lbs (68 kg)
Relationship Status: Single

Dream: Being a breeder it’s kind of an expectation that Gabriel wants to breed a strong, capable Pokémon. But his ultimate dream is a little more than that. Gabriel’s biggest dream is to have his prized Pokémon become part of a rising champion’s team, and with this, become one of the team’s strongest forces. (All in all, he’d probably end up feeling like something of a proud father if/when it happens.)
But because he thirsts for more than just becoming a great breeder, Gabriel also strives to raise his own strong yet balanced team.

Occupation: Pokemon Breeder/Trainer
Hometown/Region: Fuchsia City (Kanto)
Main Pokémon: Cinder (Chimchar)

Personality:
Gabe is an all-around fun guy to be with; for various reasons.
He can be something of a goof ball, and is very optimistic with his outlook on life. Still, being a slightly melodramatic guy it doesn’t take much to change his mood. Gabriel is also a massive klutz and is something of a magnet for trouble, and can near always be seen porting some kind of new “battle scar”. Despite the fact that his emotions may not always be stable, the faith he places in people is. It takes the right kind of person to earn Gabriel’s trust and devotion, but once he/she has it they have the right to feel proud.
Gabriel ports something of an “act first, think later” attitude and that has put him in an undesirable situation more times than he can count. This goes hand in hand with his over-protective nature towards the people he cares about –specifically his sister –as he will sometimes over-estimate his abilities and make the situation worse.

Personality (Summarized): (+)Optimistic, (+)Fun, (+)Trust-Worthy,(o)Clumsy, (-)Emotionally Unstable, (-)Acts Too Quickly, (-)Over-Protective, (-)Over-Confident

Likes:
Exploring, potentially dangerous things, making people smile, sleeping, watermelon flavored gum, and sun rises.
Dislikes:
Small spaces, cooking, being embarrassed, spicy food, Magikarp, and losing people.

History:
Gabriel was born the first of a set of twins, the oldest by eight minutes, to a loving and energetic set of parents. With their father being an accomplished coordinator and mother an infamous breeder the two twins have been surrounded by Pokémon their entire lives. The four spent plenty of time together; enough that the parents’ energy and stubbornness had rubbed off on their children.
Throughout the years Gabriel grew up to be something of a “Mama’s boy” and would often watch in when his mother was dealing with a client, curious of the reason behind Pokémon breeding. His curiosity never grew and the young boy just continued to admire the logic and planning behind the field.
When Gabriel was at a young age, the Chamberlains went on a family trip to Celadon City where both parents had tasks to complete. After some family time the parent’s split with the father off to enter a contest, and the mother whisked away to offer some valuable breeding advice. Gabriel tagged along with his mother where he later watched a match of two bred pokemon pitted against one another. Amazed by the skill and power that the two battled with, especially when compared with the normal creatures at the Safari Zone, Gabe’s admiration for breeding shot up and he knew now what he was determined to do.
In the years that followed Gabriel trained himself for the road that lie ahead and at twelve years of age finally set off, feeling that he was ready, with his sister by his side. They started in the Kanto region –their homeland –exploring until they felt that there was no where left for them. At this point they caught a ride on the S.S. Aqua where they faced the Johto region for the first time, in Olivine City. Not much time had passed since their arrival when the twins –now nearly 13 –made themselves acquainted with an aspiring scientist the same age as them. After a while the three began to travel together, eager to explore everywhere they could.

It was at the age of 17 when Gabriel and his friends heard stories of the Tolorine region. Allured by its charm the trio set off to this mystery region; but not before stopping off in Unova after hearing how close the two regions were stationed. In Unova Gabriel’s sister found something that kept her back, and told the boys to go on ahead without her and she would catch up later. So, the two best friends continued their voyage and entered Tolorine with big dreams in their heads.

:bulletorange: Nightshade (Nidorino)
Poison || Lv. 50 || Male || Lax Nature || Poison Point (Ability)
Egg Group: Monster/Field
How They Met: Like most other boys growing up in Fuchsia city, Gabriel dreamed of going off and exploring the Safari Zone. Finally determined to realize this dream of his, he saved up money through his allowance and other odd jobs until he finally had enough to enter the area. He was 10 at the time, when he eagerly set off to explore, feeling proud when he passed his 500P over the counter. And though not particularly interested at the time, he brought along the Safari balls he was offered and head out. Out for a while, and extremely happy about the whole thing, Gabriel was caught off guard by a Nidoran♂ he startled while exploring in tall grass. Frightened he started to throw a mix of rocks and bait at the Pokémon. Only growing in confusion the Nidoran♂ was ready to charge when Gabriel accidentally wrapped his hand around and threw a poke ball; successfully catching it. In the end he went home with Nightshade, and though they didn't start out on good terms, the two eventually softened up to each other.
Personality: Easily the most relaxed of the group, Nightshade is a very calm character and has the tendency to just go with the flow, finding that things just sort themselves out better that way. He is usually very care-free and doesn’t really think through the consequences of his actions, leaving hit up to his trainer to clean up whatever mess he may have caused. This is never intentional though, because he really loves Gabriel, and being his first Pokémon, is also closest to him.
Nightshade is like the cool older brother of the group and though not the wisest, can often be seen being asked for advice from the others –especially in matters dealing with Gabe and his sister.

:bulletorange: Nereus (Slowking)
Water/Psychic || Lv. 40 || Male || Bashful Nature || Oblivious (Ability)
Egg Group: Monster/Water 1
How They Met: Nereus is Gabe’s second official Pokémon, and also his first breeding attempt.
Living in an area where Slowpoke are relatively easy to come by, Gabriel couldn’t help but become fascinated with this strange, lazy species. At eleven, nearly twelve, and now an aspiring breeder Gabriel sought out and captured a random male Slowpoke with an idea in mind. He bred this Pokémon with his mother’s strong, female Slowbro and together they ultimately led to the creation of an egg of his own; a little guy that would become the center of all of Gabe’s love and attention. This attitude continued even after his sister became the bearer of bad news, having explained how Pokémon breeding actually works. (Long story short: The father has more control than the mother over the abilities of the offspring.) In spite of all, once Nereus had hatched, Gabriel was as proud as proud could be and gave him a name of power and wisdom to show that such a slow guy could be smart after all.
Personality: Nereus is the group’s genius, but also the most innocent of the entire lot. Though is an intellectual when it comes to book-smarts, his years as a Slowpoke has had their toll on him causing Nereus to be rather oblivious to the happenings of the world. Because of this he is rather slow at catching jokes, and takes most things literally. But, to make up for all of this, he has a heart of gold and is actually one of Gabriel’s strongest fighters.
Extras: A proud father to Nereus, Gabriel has mixed feelings about his Pokémon’s evolution. Having known him as a Slowpoke for so long it was a little unsettling for Gabe when Nereus’ IQ shot up so suddenly. It’s like he became a completely different person. Because of this Gabriel will oftentimes try to force“knock” the crownShellder off his Pokémon’s head.

:bulletorange: Opal (Gabite)
Dragon/Ground || Lv. 35 || Female || Calm Nature || Sand Veil (Ability)
Egg Group: Monster/Dragon
How They Met: While travelling the Sinnoh region Gabe and his friends would often hear rumours about Gabite and the healing properties that their scales possessed. After being told about a particularly enticing encounter with the medicine, the group’s scientist becomes largely intrigued and is convinced that they must go and get a scale. (For the sake of science!) With some directions to guide them the three hike to their destination. Exploration goes rather quietly until Gabriel’s twin isscared caught off-guard by a tiny shark-like creature. Determined to play the protective brother role Gabriel does the only thing he can think of at the moment: luring the Gibile away using berries. His plan, surprisingly, works and though he gains a few scratches Gabe earns a new friend as well. They decide to use this time to relax, though their plan is quickly cut short when they are confronted by a small group of Gabite. The trio’s Gible friend jumps to the rescue and plays medium; helping them accomplish their mission. With nothing left to do they decide to leave, but Gabe’s Gible friend continues to follow until he ultimately decides to catch her.
Personality: Opal is a tranquil Pokémon; the kind that is almost terrifyingly so and gives her the appearance of an almost cold assassin. Though she never kills. This Gabite is extremely level-headed and rarely expresses her emotions; a considerable change from her at least somewhat happy-go-lucky Gible years. Opal is the pokemon that Gabriel can always rely on, and when in need of advice the one he goes to. Over the years their bond has grown to the point where Opal is overly protective of her trainer and doesn’t like when shady figures try to talk with him. In relation to the others on her team, she is the one to stop any bickering and looks after the lot like a group of little siblings.

:bulletorange: Clair (Meditite)
Fighting/Psychic || Lv. 30 || Female || Quiet Nature || Pure Power (Ability)
Egg Group: Human-Like
How They Met: While travelling in the Hoenn region Gabriel is challenged to a battle by a Psychic/Fighting-type trainer. As the battle starts it’s easy to see that both trainers are evenly matched –until the challenger sends out his Medicham. Defeated, yet infatuated and amazed by this Pokémon’s talent, Gabriel sets off alone into the wilderness determined to catch one of his own.
The day lazily dragged on without success, and even though he was starved being the forgetful guy he is, Gabriel refused to give up. The sun started to set, but then it came –he saw a Meditite perched on a rock, deep in meditation. He immediately called out Nightshade and sent him towards the Pokémon with orders to tackle her. He did as was told and took her out in one hit, having forced the Meditite’s head to hit the rocks behind her fairly hard. Still out cold he threw the poke ball and caught his future champion who luckily held nothing close to a grudge against him.
Personality: Clair is oftentimes true to her quiet nature, but it’s rarely because she’s at a lack of things to say. This Meditite’s mind is usually either wondering or deep in meditation. Aside from Cinder, she is the one of that Gabriel had the hardest time forming a bond with, but once it happened the dedication she places on her trainer is nearly unrivaled by the rest of the team. She is a bit of the jealous type (when the rest of your team is filled with attention hogs being quiet has its downsides) but does her best to suppress it, because the emotion is an “unclean” one. Clair constantly trains in order to improve herself and gain praise from Gabe, though she’d never admit it.

:bulletorange: Quill (Pidove)
Normal/Flying || Lv. 15 || Female || Bold Nature || Big Pecks (Ability)
Egg Group: Flying
How They Met: On their travels in Unova the trio decides to stop in Nimbasa for a fun-filled, short, vacation. One day while passing through one of the theme park squares, the trio caught sight of a flock of Pidove. As they passed Gabriel offhandedly threw some trash on the ground, and seconds later one of the little birds flew over and started to peck madly at his face. Unsure of what he did to cause to such a reaction, Gabriel simply ducked and ran away from the crazy bird Pokémon and continued to explore the town, oblivious to the fact that the Pidove continued to stalk him.
As the day came to a close Gabriel and his friends started towards their hotel where they had a run-in with a group who were inappropriately defacing public property. After having dealt with them the brave little Pidove made another appearance, this time with a new respect and adoration for Gabriel, (probably because he was a mistake who turned good) who through Nereus, learned the reason behind her constant pestering. It was then that she was happily made part of the group, and given the name Quill. (Moral of the story, littering is bad. //shot)
Personality: When it comes to this team, there is no Pokémon braver than little Quill. She is always out to do her best, never caring to impress, unless it’s to prove herself to her trainer. This Pidove has a very strong set of morals, and if anyone goes ahead and defaces one of them they better be prepared to face her wrath. Quill has a very strong attachment and respect for Gabriel, despite first impressions, and is prepared to do anything she must in order to make him proud. Still, she isn’t the kind of Pokémon to dive into something head-first and likes to think about things, though if something boils her blood enough it doesn’t matter how dangerous things are –she just charges.

:bulletorange: Cinder (Chimchar) *Starter
Fire || Lv. 5 || Male || Impish Nature || Blaze (Ability)
Egg Group: Human-Like/Field
How They Met: Upon arriving in the new region, it didn't take long for Gabriel to meet up with Professor Castila, who offered him a "starter" Pokémon. He figured that this would make him more of an official trainer but was also happy to accept the new friend. He is now determined to help Cinder rise in level so he can match up to his other Pokémon....-though the Chimchar isn't always so easy to work with.
Personality: Like most other Chimchar, Cinder is a very mischievous Pokémon and always seems to be up to some kind of trouble. Having a big personality, he has the tendency to go against his trainer's orders when he feels that his own ideas are better; though because of his inexperience this usually ends up badly. He finds Gabriel to be an easy target and loves to play pranks on him, and only him, because of his priceless reactions. Still very new to the team, Cinder can't understand how the other Pokémon can have such a strong bond with this trainer and will oftentimes test Gabriel to make sure he really deserves their devotion.

Pokémon Namesakes:
:bulletorange: Cinder's name is pretty self-explanatory considering it focuses around fire.

:bulletorange: Quill is sometimes jokingly called "Don Q". This is in reference to the character "Don Quixote" from the novel of the same name, because of her brave and determined (knightly) personality.

:bulletorange: Nighteshade was named after the alternate title for the Belladonna plant; a flower that contains a deadly toxin.

:bulletorange: In Greek mythology Nereus is, in short, the eldest son of the Sea (Pontus) and Earth (Gaia). It's a name linked directly with water -Slowking's type. Also, this Greek figure is also known for his truthfulness and virtue, both traits of which are expressed by Gabriel's Pokémon.

:bulletorange: Clair is directly named for the French word, and when translated in the phrase "voir clair" it literally means “to see clearly”. This goes with Meditite's constant meditating and its promising potential psychic powers. (Aka. When it evolves into Medicham)

:bulletorange: Because of her dark skin, the first thing that came to mind for Gabe's Gabite was a black yet beautiful gemstone. Opal was the one that suited her the best.

Relationships:
:bulletorange: Amelia Chamberlain || Twin Sister || 17 || Pokémon Coordinator/Trainer
Gabriel is incredibly close with his sister, and views her to be the single most important person in his life. Every time she’s in trouble he has the strange desire to protect her, even when he knows that she can handle herself. The two are very close and will often joke and/or make fun of one another.

:bulletorange: Eric Kendall || Best Friend || 17 || Pokemon Scientist/Trainer (Will be applying to the group from his creator)
Though they’ve only known each other for five years it’d be easy to mistake the two for childhood friends. Gabriel is so close with this guy they could almost be considered family, and the two are near inseparable –never going off on a “great adventure” without the other.

Misc.:
:bulletorange: Gabriel strongly believes the idea that one’s starter Pokémon is the strongest on their team. Because of this he starts to do most of his battling with Cinder, even when he’s told that it’s not necessary to go along with that idea.
:bulletorange: Unlike most trainers who form their team surrounding a certain type, Gabriel bases his around different egg groups. This is primarily because of the idea that the more variety of types he has, he’ll be able to breed strong and unique Pokémon.
:bulletorange: The single Pokémon that Gabriel wants most is a Ditto for the only reason that they are the universal Pokémon to breed. xD
:bulletorange: Now that they’re separated Gabe constantly worries about his sister......not like he’d ever willingly admit it though.
:bulletorange: Has a paranoid nature that a breed-able Pokémon will evolve into a non-breed-able one; that’s why he carries around so many everstones.

Gabriel, why are you so cute?!
You did an amazing job on designing his outfit; it screams "Pokemon" yet I could picture an average guy wearing this (okay, maybe a good-looking, fashionable guy, but still, you get what I'm trying to say. ^^) I also love those cool gloves of his. Let's hope that his sister will look just as good~ ;P
Just glancing over his team they already seem like an amazing bunch, and you drew them so well! And you said that you couldn't draw Pokemon~! I also love how you added a bit of a background to all of them.
Now to read through his bio. ^^ I have to say that love how much thought that you put into his character.

Even as it could be a universal goal for many breeders, I think that his dream is a really inspiring one. I can already picture Gabe crying like a proud father when one of his pokemon are a part of that team. xD
For some reason when you talk about Gabe's "act first, think later" attitude, I can picture his sister being the opposite - for the most part. I wonder how she's able to put up with him. ;P As for him being a total klutz...I think I just found out what Gabe and Eric have in common~ xD
FFFF - dislikes: Magikarp. Is there interesting story behind this?? XD

I love how the idea that you came up with how he decided to become a breeder; how he actually has reason behind it. And I love how he's a breeder as opposed to just being a trainer; it's something different.
Gabriel’s sister found something that kept her back...I'll have to come up with a reason for that, hmm??

Nightshade - Though it's just the first meeting that I've read, I have to say that I have a feeling that this will be one of my favourites. There's just something I love about a cute, naive Gabe proudly wandering around the Safari zone with no intention of capturing a Pokemon, but he gets one in the end. It's also nice to see that even after all of this time to two of them remain close.

Nereus - Gabe, you are too cute! I'm so happy that he didn't listen to his sister and become discouraged. I can just picture the look on his face when Nereus hatched. >3< I can just as clearly picture Gabe's attempts to knock off his friend's crown. xD

Opal - Gabe, you have to thank Eric for this Pokemon~ xD I love how she almost has an instant liking for the breeder, shortly saving the group after she's captured. I also love how she grows protective of the boy later on. She seems to be the motherly figure of the group.

Clair - You've got to love French inspiration for names. D'aww, Gabe is such a cutie in this scene. He lost a fight, yet he still had a positive outcome from it all. Did his friend and sister have to put up with his determination. I can hear the two of them complaining~ I love how she's almost jealous of the other pokemon (even though she won't admit it.)

Quill - There's a moral behind this one! //SHOT She's such a cutie, and definitely a favourite of mine. Even though she's so cute small, she has such a strong sense of right and wrong. It's an interesting trait to see in a Pidove.

Cinder - The story on how these two met was probably the easiest to come up with, but that's not the only thing that makes him stand out from the group. I love how he doesn't have an instant attraction to his trainer and how he's always trying to get Gabe to prove himself. Poor little Gabe, having to come put up with the constant pranks.

I love how you added the bit which explains the origin of the Pokemons' names, and how they're all so well thought out. (Don Quan!! //SHOT)

....This just reminds me of how much I need to come up with a name for those two (a first name for Gabe's sister, and a last name for his nerdy scientist friend, Eric). I love how Gabe is so protective of his sister, even as she's able to take care of herself. That's why I'm surprised that the duo left her behind in Unova (it must have taken a lot of bribing convincing. xD)
You can do it, Gabe - you can get that Ditto!! (though be warned, when you do, you'll probably never hear the end of Eric's pleading to breed certain Pokemon).

All in all, though it took me a while, I enjoyed every moment of his bio as I got to know more about Gabe and his Pokemon. All I can say is that I hope we see lots of pictures of this guy in the future~
