: A battle axe/shotgun that was made as a gift for October by his older sister, his involvement with its creation was minimal.
In it's melee form, referred to as it "Trick mode", the weapon stands not much shorter than October himself, and is wielded with a two-handed grip. When transformed into it's ranged formed, also called it's "Treat mode", the handle retracts -shortening the gun slightly- and is held horizontally when in use. It shoots shotgun bullets when the trigger (located near the base of the gun) is pulled.

Reckless:
Without much care for his own well-being, October will often mindlessly throw himself into any situation (be it dangerous or not) without much reflection. Because he's something of a thrill-seeker he lives more for the moment than the consequences that follow.
Attachment Issues:
To be blunt, he cares more about his own entertainment than the well-being of other people. If interested in whatever is currently going on, October is invaluable, as he will do whatever is asked or required of him. Should he lose interest, however, he has no quarrels against abandoning anyone. In a more social sense, October tries to distance himself from others, and refuses to form attachments with anyone. This stems from his fear of hurting them.
Curious:
Where curiousity may have killed the cat, it hasn't yet sunk its claws into October. Very intrigued by the people and places surrounding him, he has the bad habit of poking his nose into places it really shouldn't be.
Determined:
When he wants to accomplish something, October is sure to follow through until the bitter end. When combined with his competitive spirit, it can make for a very efficient way to manipulate him into doing something.
Friendly:
Although a very self-oriented individual, he is actually very kind to other people and will make an effort to, if not befriend them, at the very least offer kindness. He often does this in a very boisterous way, to the chagrin of most silent-seeking individuals.
Insightful:
Despite the bubbly, almost idiotic, demeanor he presents, October is actually very well aware of people's emotions, motives, and other things of the sort. He more than often, however, keeps an oblivious front, keeping this side of himself hidden from most other people.
Selfish:
Everything he does is more often than not is to further his own selfish goals. A darker side of his personality that contradicts his friendly front, if given the choice, October will pursue whatever is important to him, and completely disregard the needs or wants of other people.
Honest:
When it comes to himself and his own life, October has nothing to hide. When approached with a question, he will answer openly, honestly, and without restraint. He finds secrets worthless, and therefore makes no effort to keep any.

I am so sorry for writing a novel for this section- //OTL
Born and raised in a small farming community, October's early childhood had been nothing short of ordinary. For as long as memory permits, his life had been very routine: helping his parents out with their plot, playing with the other children, and being looked after by his older sister, Nina. Being one of the older children he was something of a "leader" to the group, and was therefore charged with coming up with their plans for the day- namely, what game they were to play, or what undiscovered territory they were to visit. It may have been simple, but October loved the simplicity of it all. It didn't however, last forever.

The farm was targeted by the White Fang. The residents didn't know why of course, they simply grew and sold their produce, but before the day was up the land was lit ablaze. Not a single plot was spared from the fire. With nothing left for them beneath the ash, all of the families were forced to move. And for October, that meant goodbye to his childhood innocence. The Jackson family moved into the neighbouring city, where October's father had been lucky enough to find work.

Intimidated by this strange, giant city, October and Nina would spend their days exploring all that it had to offer. Unknown to the children, who had only ever known the kindness of their farming village, city dwellers could be much more hostile. Trapped in an alley by a common thief, the siblings were attacked. Fortune seemed to favour them on that day, though, because before any real harm could come to them, they were saved by a stranger; a retired huntress. Talking with the woman, the siblings had learned that, although her hunting days were long behind her, the huntress taught fighting lessons to those who wished to learn. Although it wasn't to Nina's liking, October jumped at the chance. His lessons began and maybe, just maybe, this city wasn't so bad.

October improved quickly and became well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. Of course this could be used against other people, but if confronted by a Grimm, there was no hope. October thought about this often, and although tried to hide his desire for a weapon (because of his family's poor financial state), he couldn't keep it from Nina. And so, for his 14th birthday, his sister had presented him with a weapon she had designed and created herself. A battle axe: a more dangerous take on the common farming tool. A little piece of the past -and home. October fell in love with the weapon immediately, and wasted no time showing it off to his teacher. Despite her weapon of choice not being an axe, he begged her to teach him -at least the basics- so he could start learning to use this new weapon.

Because of the axe's grandeur, October could no longer train inside the city, and would often travel instead to its outskirts, accompanied by his sister. As weeks turned to months, and months to a full year, October's fighting skills only continued to increase. However, until a certain turn of events, he had never even entertained the idea of becoming a hunter.

It was during one of his usual training sessions with Nina watching over him, that a Grimm appeared. It was sudden, unexpected, and October had no idea what to do. He'd never studied Grimms before- He'd tried his best of course, but his best wasn't enough. And the worst would probably have come to past if not for the appearance of his now two-time savior, the huntress. This battle, however, was one that she wouldn't come out from uninjured. Sacrificing her right arm to protect the teenagers, she took a hit that rendered it useless. The huntress had managed to defeat the Grimm, but two lives were changed that day.

The huntress lost an arm and, no longer able to effectively teach fighting, closed down her studio. October, overwhelmed by the immense sense of grief and uselessness, changed. He dropped fighting, and slowly became the boy he is known as today. He attempted to pick up many different hobbies -music, painting, inventing, etc.- but had no attachment for any of them, and therefore dropped them as soon as he grew bored. No, his true passion lie with fighting, but that wasn't something he was willing to admit to himself.

Nina, witness to her brother's inner turmoil, was the one who did her research and, upon finding it, mentioned Pharos Academy. He of course scoffed at first, saying that a school like that would be so boring, but Nina persisted. October was so stuck in his resolve, that it ended with Nina basically demanding her brother to send a letter to that school, or else she would never speak to him again.

And so, October tried. Of course he had no real belief that he would be accepted, but that decision would be one left to fate.

✦ His discomfort working with teams stems from the unconscious fear of letting others down. October knows he's unreliable, and is convinced that he will only bring other people misfortune. Initiation is going to be so much fun for him-
✦ Although his initial reason for wanting to attend Pharos was only at his sister's request, October, subconsciously, has much greater self-purpose for wanting to be there. It's a chance for redemption; to prove himself; to do something about all this guilt -but I'm not even sure he's realized this himself.
✦ He is selfish, because he knows that by only involving himself, he is the only one at risk. His thinking's kind of warped, and he's like this almost because of selfless reasons.
✦ Because "Jack" is often a name associated with Halloween, that is what his last name is derived from, with "Jackson" literally meaning "son of Jack".
