:iconsaotome-high:

Last Name: Takagi
First Name: Takumi
Nickname(s): Tako, Kumi.... (He loves nicknames, so I hope to see this list grow!)
Gender: Male
Age: 17 years
Birthday: August 15th (Leo)
Height: 5'8" (177 cm)
Orientation: Straight
Status: Single

Grade: Second Year
Class: B
Course: Composer
Voice: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzJ8ek… (1:15 - 1:39)
Idol Partner: Reina Fujiotsuka (*MelodicSoul)

Personality:
Having relied on his music and parents to lead his life, Takumi is very new to the concept of making his own decisions. As a result he is quite the indecisive guy with a habit of going with the flow and agreeing to most everything that other people decide/suggest. When other people aren't around to help direct him, well, Takumi is pretty much a lost cause and will very quickly become over-worried and nervous about making a mistake -revealing just how dependent he is.

And though he may worry to death over even the smallest things left in his power, when it comes to other people he has great faith. When they deserve it. Takumi is the nagging voice that believes, never doubts, and urges you on -always there for whoever needs him. He is a reliable and trust-worthy companion to anyone willing to get to know and befriend him. Part of this comes from the fact that Takumi loves to please people, ready to go out of his way for the benefit of someone else, even when it may go against his own wishes.

There is also a side to him that Takumi tries his best to hide: the fact that he is a very big sap. He has a soft spot for romance and cute things, though he often downplays the fact because it's 'unmanly'. On occasion he'll accidentally let it slip, causing his self-conscious level to shoot up.

All of these sides of Takumi disintegrate when he plays his cello or is composing a piece. When working with music he becomes calm, full of life and emotion, and without care -he is in his element.

Personality Summarized:
(+) Reliable, (+) A People-pleaser, (+) Faith-filled, (+) Confident(When dealing with others), (~) A Big Sap, (-) Indecisive, (-) Dependent, (-) Worries Easily(About himself), (-) Self-Conscious

History:
Born the first child to two very paranoidwary parents, raising Takumi was something of an experiment for the couple. Unsure of exactly what rules needed to be placed over their son Mr. and Mrs. Takagi decided to go with what seemed to be reasonable at the time and enforce, well, every rule that they could think of. Needless to say that Takumi's childhood life was very much out of his control: from food to interests. Not that he minded much, to be honest, because it was the routine he had come to know.

And even if they were controlling, Takumi's parents were also very loving and wished for their son to be both successful and happy. And they both agreed from their own experiences that a great starting point and stepping stone to greatness was learning to play an instrument. It teaches dedication, restraint, concentration, improves memorization....all of which are vital skills for the working world. And so at the age of six they decided to go through with this plan and sign Takumi up for cello lessons. (Cello because it was the same instrument that the father had learned to play when he was young.) It a lot of work on Takumi's part to even begin to understand the cello, but after a good few weeks of lessons he fell in love with the instrument and the beautiful melodies it could produce. For two years Takumi worked on improving his skills -becoming more and more passionate about music with every passing month -and finally his hard-work paid off when his teacher had enough confidence in his ability to sign him up for his very first recital. The results? Everyone was impressed by the performance -even Takumi's own parents. The positive reactions inflated Takumi's own pride and he began to work even harder to master the instrument. And so he continued to play at recitals -and the occasional wedding -and he continued to improve, but still he wasn't quite feeling.....fulfilled. Like there was still some great thing missing in his playing.

For years this went on until Takumi was 13 and he brought this up with his new instructor. (Realizing their son's passion, his parents had hired a new, better teacher as a present for his 13th birthday.) The response he got is a single sentence that stays with Takumi even now, and is a piece of wisdom he forever keeps close to his heart: "To master an instrument is to play with enough heart and emotion that the music becomes your own". Even if he ended up taking the advice a little too literally, this is what started Takumi's composing 'career'. He had played around and figured out his own little five second melodies before, but to write an entire song.....that was a brand new challenge entirely. And it was a challenge he was willing to except. With new determination Takumi started by setting aside half an hour every day to just sit with his cello -no sheet music, no pencils, no anything -and create. With time these periods grew longer until he could easily spend a number of hours alone with his cello. And what started out as a hobby soon become something more when Takumi finally completed his first composition -now 14- and preformed it at the annual recital. The feedback consisted of praise with bits of constructive criticism littered throughout. Finally, Takumi felt complete, and he knew now what he wanted to do.

He continued to create his melodies and started to steadily perform more often, and eventually he was recognized by a local composing group filled with rising young talents. Invited to join, Takumi began to attend the meetings (with his parent's permission) and learned much about the music technicalities he had been blind to before. And what was an even better experience than expanding his knowledge was having the opportunity to share his pieces with people on the same level as him. With a monthly sharing session Takumi also got to hear compositions from the other members of the club. This made for an incredible, eye-opening experience -each interaction helping Takumi's music to grow in complexity and beauty.
Now having been a regular member for almost two years, one club meeting held an unexpected surprise when a flyer was passed around the group; a brochure that spoke of the serious musical school called Saotome High. Reading about it Takumi was filled with new-found determination, wanting nothing more than to have the chance to go to such an amazing school.

Only....he doubted that his talents could even be on the same superstar level as the other attendees to the school.

So for the months that followed Takumi pushed himself to join more difficult competitions and experiment with different styles of music. He ate up criticism whenever he had the pleasure of receiving it and continued to strive to best himself.
Finally, as the enrollment drew closer he brought up the proposition with his parents. Though they were a little skeptical at first thinking of their "baby boy going out alone in the world", they eventually gave in recognizing his talent, unwilling to hold him back. So they allowed him to send in an application and pray for his acceptance, all the while preparing a "Takumi care-package".

Likes:
- Singing (Though he's not especially good at it)
- Sunny days
- Cute girls~ (He has a bit of a weakness for them)
- Romance/Poetry (Not that he's likely to admit to it)
- Bubble Tea (Especially on a warm summer afternoon)
- Doodling
- Crossword Puzzles
- Opportunities to prove himself (A like and dislike: to show that he's worthy of being in the academy)
- Flowers (Especially tulips)

Dislikes:
- Opportunities to prove himself (A like and dislike: sometimes he reacts poorly, like a deer in the headlights)
- Chocolate (He's not overly fond of sweets)
- Breaking the rules (Makes him nervous beyond belief)
- Riddles/Word Problems (Is really bad at solving them)
- Heights (More of a fear)
- Horror Stories (He's a bit of a wimp)

Additional Info:
- He's very dedicated to his cello -having played the instrument for 11 years -but still hopes to learn to play something new.
- Always with him is a little notebook to write down lyrics when they come to mind. At least, that's what it's intended for. In reality most of the pages are filled with short sentences, random words, and doodles. Takumi can still somehow manage to make songs out of it, though.
- He collects plastic bracelets/bands. His collection is pretty impressive, but Takumi only ever wears the ones that have sentimental value.
--> Yellow: Takumi's first band that he received upon entering his first recital. It was for advertisement purposes, sure, but it reminds him of his roots and how far he's come.
--> Pink: Was passed out at the club along with the Saotome High flyer. He sees it as something to remind him of his goals.
--> Blue: Made by his fellow composition club members who know of his obsession. It's something of a good luck charm for Takumi, and he finds comfort looking at the spirit-lifting words.
- Always carries his phone with him. He mostly uses it to listen to music and find inspiration, but it's also great for games. And making sure that his parents can always reach him so they don't freak out over nothing.
- He can read sheet music just fine; writing it is a completely different story. He has a great memory so most of his songs are stored purely in his head, and as a result he's a little weak when it comes to writing it down. Not that he can't do it -he's just very slow.
- Has one younger sister (13 years old) who reacted differently to his parents upbringing than he did, resulting in her being a tad more rebellious and receives a different kind of treatment from the family. Her rash nature makes him nervous.
- He's quite the goody-two shoes. Doing anything rebellious or potentially dangerous makes him jumpy and nervous. If it persists he tends to freak out and cling to the nearest person for comfort. Whoops, looks like his parent's paranoia is taking root.

Quote:
"True music mastery comes from putting your whole heart into a piece; enough that it becomes your very own."
"In all of us there is light. Through our music we share this very light -an intimate part of ourselves -and there is nothing that can bring greater joy."
"I have enough faith for the both of us; so stop fretting and get out there and show everyone what you're made of!"
"W-what are you doing?! Hey, wait! I-I said wait!! We shouldn't even be out here! Obviously there are rules for a reason! .....Please come back...."

TAKUMI!!! //sobs
I'm so ashamed that I never took the time to comment on his app. :iconsawbplz:
I don't think I've ever explicitly told you how much I love this baby's design. He's such a cut character, and, dare I say it, one of your most attractive. :iconflirtwinkplz:
You did such a wonderful job with creating this character, right down to his history. It's a shame that the group never worked out in the end! I'm postive him and Reina would have made a fantastic duo we should totally still rp //shot

I absolutely adore his history, even to go as far as to say that it's one of my favourites out of all of your characters. I loved reading about how Takumi's love of music steadily began to grow, and how he came to be where he is today.

Likes : cute girls Is it bad that when reading this I hoped that he would find Reina cute? xD
Reading more about his likes and dislikes, I can definitely see our two characters getting along.

All in all, absolutely wonderful character~ <333
